The Stack is a monthly .NET User Group supported by Mando Group in Liverpool. The user group is totally free and is a place where developers from in and around Liverpool and the North West of the UK can get together, hear some great speakers and chat about the latest developments in the .NET world.

Azure LOB Application – from Concept to Cloud in 6 weeks with Tim Myers

When our client approached us with requirement to build a multi-platform browser based line of business application with a 6-week delivery timescale, and low running costs, we had a major review of our technology and delivery platforms, and decided to offer a cloud-based solution. We’ll look at how we chose our technology stack, managed the agile development environment, and clarified the myriad of cloud pricing and hosting solutions.

About the speaker: Tim Myers is the Solutions Architect for Mando Group. Starting commercial development almost 20 years ago with 16-bit C++ Windows 3.1 applications, he has developed for embedded, desktop, mobile, web and enterprise applications. Tim has a great knowledge of the Microsoft stack, having implemented complex business analysis solutions in SQL server, and architected SharePoint implementations for blue-chip organisations. Tim is an advocate of agile software development, and is a Certified ScrumMaster. 

Isolating the Domain Model from Azure with Stephen Roughley

When developing a software system around a set of business rules that are liable to change it is important to isolate the business rules logic so that it can be easily adapted, tested and proven as the project evolves. This is particularly true of a system that relies heavily on external data sources. Thankfully there are a wealth of proven patterns available for achieving this isolation and in this presentation we will look at how these development patterns were used to isolate a Domain Model that has its data stored in and retrieved from Azure Blob Storage.

About the speaker: Stephen Roughley is a programmer with 9 years’ experience in developing Line of Business applications using Microsoft .NET and other technologies. From the very beginnings of his career, Stephen was trained in the ways of applying patterns and domain modelling techniques to solving business problems and is now a keen advocate of software design patterns and Domain Driven Design techniques.
